Cole Sprouse opened up about how he and his Riverdale cast members are doing after the death of co-star Luke Perry this week.
The 26-year-old actor was interviewing ahead of the release of his movie Five Feet Apart when he was asked how the Riverdale cast was handling the news of Luke Perry, 52, dying on Monday after he suffered a stroke a few days prior.
‘We’re recovering, yeah,’ Cole said to TV host Andrew Freund while appearing hesitant to say much more on the subject.

He continued: ‘It’s obviously not the easiest thing to talk about, but he was well-loved, and there’s been an outpouring of emotional support from people around the world, which just goes to show what a wonderful person he was and how much he impacted people’s lives, and impacted our lives.
‘But I know that his family has requested a sort of privacy during this period and I respect that quite a bit.’
Cole gave a similar statement to Extra on Wednesday after being asked how he was handling the news.
‘We are all recovering,’ he said before adding, ‘Everyone says great things about him because he is a great guy.’ Cole is reportedly heading back to the Riverdale set on Friday.
The death of 90210 and Riverdale star shocked the world this week as the actor was only 52 years old. Messages flooded in from co-stars and former colleagues who were all left reeling over the news.
Cole, himself, posted a picture he took of Luke on his Instagram account on the day it was announced he was taken to the hospital after suffering a stroke.
‘Love you bud,’ Cole wrote in the caption at the time.
Other cast members also posted pictures of Luke on their own Instagram pages while reiterating that their thoughts and prayers were with the co-star and his family.
Days after the posts, it was revealed Luke had passed away.

Lili Reinhart, 22, admitted to her Twitter followers on Monday that she was finding it hard to deal with the news of her co-star’s passing.
‘I’m finding it hard to grasp that he will no longer be around to give long hugs and share his wisdom and kindness with all of us,’ the actress wrote in an emotional tweet.
She continued: ‘I’m thinking of his family. His children. I pray for them to heal and find peace in this devastating loss.’
Riverdale shut down production this week to give cast members time to mourn.
In a statement released on Monday, the company said: ‘”We are deeply saddened to learn today about the passing of Luke Perry. A beloved member of the Riverdale, Warner Bros. and CW family, Luke was everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all.
‘A father figure and mentor to the show’s young cast, Luke was incredibly generous, and he infused the set with love and kindness. Our thoughts are with Luke’s family during this most difficult time.’
Wednesday’s episode of Riverdale, and all others in the future, were announced to be dedicated to Luke and his memory.
This week was also emotional time for fans as they watched the beloved actor appear on screen as Archie’s dad during the most recent Riverdale episode. It remains unclear how the CW show will handle Luke’s character’s story line for future episodes.
